Five reasons to contact a landscape designer in winter
The snow is on the ground and you are still wearing your boots and parka, why on earth would you be thinking about your landscape? There are several reasons why this is the best time to make contact with a landscape design/ install company.
1.Time to Plan: Just like your home renovations there is a lot to consider in a new landscape design and there are always new trends you might
wish to investigate. The concept phase of planning is an opportunity to really consider the options the landscape designer presents. No one wants to feel rushed into making a decision.
2. Developing a vision: Depending on the size of the project there can be many decisions to be made. For example the materials for your patio and walkway require you to select color, texture, size and pattern. Likewise if your project has a deck and fencing decision on style, material, size and stain also need to be decided. Samples will need to be pulled together allowing you to visualize the entire project.
3. Permits and Engineers: In some cases an Engineer will be required to provide plans for building before permits can be secured. This can take time depending on the schedule of the Engineer or the turnaround time of the municipality. In order for a project to move along without delay these items should be completed before the construction season.
4. Pricing the Project: At the end of the Planning Phase, we really want the homeowners to be excited about the project. We want them to be able to visualize spending time in the space. At this point it is important to address the investment required for the project. This allows the home owner sufficient time to plan, and or save. Alternatively a project can also be staged over several seasons.
5. Scheduling: With the project clear in the minds of all involved a schedule can be made. Now I know weather always plays havoc with the best laid plans but knowing your project is scheduled for a particular month and will take a specific amount of time allows you to make plans.
