Fall Containers

November 12, 2016

Although it’s been a spectacular beginning to November in Calgary, the over night temperatures severely limit plant material for containers.  Turning to florist supplies of salal, boxwood, oregonia, magnolia leaves, grasses, twigs, birch sticks and preserved botanicals can create beautiful and surprisingly long lasting container displays.

With a colour palate established choose variations in size, shape and texture within that colour range. As illustrated in this last photo,

the spiky pink and green Flax, large solitary Protea and the airy blooms of the Skimmia all play off each other. Greens are also chosen

to contrast size, shape and variations in colour.
